Spartan identifies, executes and manages investment opportunities for its clients in the luxury hotel sector.
Spartan Advisors was founded by Richard Faber in 2018 for the principal purpose of sourcing, transacting and constructing investment opportunities on behalf of its subsidiary, Spartan Investment Management. In addition to this, Spartan manages capital, acquisition and investments for institutional investors and family offices. See Projects for further details.
Spartan Advisors Limited is an Appointed Representative of Robert Quinn Advisory LLP, a firm authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
People
Richard FaberFounder & Managing Director
Richard founded Spartan in 2018. He began his career in finance with Chase Manhattan International Bank, where he joined the 1998 Credit training program, before joining the bank. Richard spent the following 18 years with Ellerman Investments (and its associated companies), the UK management company for Sir David Barclay and Sir Frederick Barclay’s investments. Richard has focused on banking, M&A and real estate. Various recent projects have included the Mirabeau apartments in Monaco, the Maybourne Hotel Group, InterContinental Hotel Group, Cavendish Hotel.
Jack HandcockFinance Director
Jack Handcock is a qualified Chartered Accountant and prior to joining Spartan has worked for multi-national companies including BHP Billiton, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Tullow Oil. Jack has worked across the globe in the UK, Latin America and Africa and has a wealth of finance expertise including statutory reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, refinancing and project management.
Jason BhanaDirector, M&A
Before joining Spartan Advisors in 2020, Jason worked with the investment banking team at Jarden Limited (New Zealand) (strategic alliance with Credit Suisse), where he was involved in various M&A and equity market transactions. Prior to this, Jason worked in the Corporate Finance team at Deloitte NZ specialising in financial due diligence, M&A, business valuations and strategy. Jason is a qualified Chartered Accountant and graduated with first class honours in Finance.

8–10 Grafton Street & 22–24 Barlow Place
In February 2026, Spartan acted as exclusive financial and strategic advisor to Evolution Investment Fund on the acquisition of the fully consented luxury hotel development site at 8–10 Grafton Street & 22–24 Barlow Place.
Acquired from O&H Grafton Developments Limited, the 157,000 sq. ft scheme, designed by Foster + Partners, will comprise up to 94 hotel keys and six luxury residences across two buildings, including a landmark 12-storey tower.
Spartan advised on the structuring and negotiation of the acquisition. The transaction represents one of the highest value hotel development site acquisitions in recent years and secures a rare opportunity to deliver a new ultra-prime hospitality offering in one of London’s most sought-after locations.
London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square
In December 2025, Spartan acted as exclusive financial and strategic advisor to Evolution Investment Fund on the acquisition of the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.
The transaction comprised the acquisition of the existing short leasehold interest and the negotiation and agreement of a new 125-year lease with The Grosvenor Estate . The 237-key, 198,000 sq ft hotel occupies a prime position on the north side of Grosvenor Square, one of London’s most distinguished garden squares in the heart of Mayfair. Spartan originated the opportunity and led the structuring and negotiation of both the short lease acquisition and the long lease arrangements.
The Whiteley, Six Senses Hotel and Spa, London
In May 2024, Spartan successfully advised on the sale of the Six Senses Hotel and Spa. This transaction comprised of a 109-key luxury hotel and the Six Senses Place, a social and wellness members club. The sale achieved a record valuation for the area of £1.7m per key. The hotel is a key component of the redevelopment of The Whiteley building, which also encompasses 139 residential apartments and 21 retail units. The sale and purchase agreement has been signed, and the hotel is expected to open in early 2025.
The Beaumont Hotel, London
In March 2024, Spartan successfully completed the refurbishment and expansion of The Beaumont Hotel. This project included the addition of a covered terrace and the Magritte Bar, as well as a new 29-room wing adjacent to the main building, which includes two new private dining rooms. Additionally, all existing guest rooms, restaurants, and bars in the original hotel, including the prestigious penthouse suite, The Roosevelt, underwent comprehensive refurbishment. Notably, both the extension and refurbishment were designed by the world-renowned architect and designer Thierry Despont.
Admiralty Arch Hotel, Residences and Members Club
In June 2022, Spartan advised on the successful sale of one of London’s most iconic buildings, Admiralty Arch Hotel, Residences and Members Club. Admiralty Arch is a historic British Landmark which is currently being restored into one of the world’s finest luxury hotels. The building comprises a 100 key hotel, residential accommodation, and a private members club.
The Ritz, London
In March 2020, Spartan advised the shareholder on the successful sale of The Ritz Hotel, London, one of the most distinguished luxury hotels in the world. This transaction achieved a record-breaking price per key and was completed during the Covid crisis.
Braemar Hotels & Resorts
In August 2019, Spartan Investment Management Ltd, our regulated Guernsey investment management firm, announced a 9.3% shareholding in a US listed luxury lodging REIT – Braemar Hotels & Resorts.
City Developments Limited
In June 2019, Spartan advised City Developments Limited on its recommended pre-conditional final cash offer for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc.
The Ritz, London
In 2018, Spartan advised the directors of The Ritz Hotel, London, on a successful refinancing with Citibank on behalf of its shareholder. The Ritz Hotel is one of London’s most iconic and prestigious luxury hotels with a Michelin-starred restaurant and world-famous afternoon teas.
The Beaumont Hotel, London
In 2018, Spartan completed its first transaction where it advised and now manages The Beaumont Hotel, London. The Beaumont is a five-star luxury hotel on a quiet garden square, close to the boutiques, galleries and museums of Mayfair, St James’s and the West End.
